Used Car Salesman

I find power in being myself, responsible for my outcomes, beholden to no one. I was privileged to be born a white male with excellent genes, not so much what one might call an intellect, but I get by…

In 1976, I arrived as a 31-year-old tourist, expecting kangaroos to be leaping about the streets. I soon learnt South Australia offered many openings, despite its suburbs obsessed with tin roofs, a game where little men in white wave flags at each other, and the ridiculous cars. This was going to be my Shangri-La. I fell in love with tales of derring-do, the unencumbered attitude of the public, the beautiful weather, the wonderful vistas, and most of all, the possibilities.
