Tanya Hosch

Policy Advisor

Power is privilege, and with privilege comes responsibility.

Born in Adelaide to a Welsh mother and a Torres Strait Islander father I was adopted when I was three weeks old to an Aboriginal father and a white mother. They were a wonderful family. I’ve worked in Adelaide, Sydney, and Canberra, in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy, and now I work at the AFL. I’m proud of working towards an apology for Adam Goodes from the AFL and all eighteen AFL clubs.

In some ways, my job is one of being a professional disrupter. Disrupting systems and structures that have typically privileged some people over others, which naturally centres a conversation around how power is being used.
