Sophie Thomson

Gardener/Environmental Educator

Because I’m a gardening commentator through public speaking, radio, print and television, I have a platform and therefore, the power to educate people about environmental issues I’m passionate about. Whether it’s the ‘urban heat island effect’, and the need to plant trees and gardens, or the lack of urban habitat and the need to create spaces where birds, bees, butterflies and other creatures can live and thrive, or whether it’s food security and the need to grow at least some of our own herbs, veggies, and fruits.

Or I might speak to the physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing benefits of gardening. These issues are really important and I’m motivated to use my form of influence to bring about change.
