Creative Producer/Event Director
As an artist I’ve been able to swap between roles; dancer, producer, director, dramaturg, teacher… That doesn’t necessarily happen in other cities, but because we’re such a small, tight-knit community in Adelaide, it enables artists to transition through career pathways and be supported in doing so.
[My partner] Cobby and I celebrated our 38th year on Saturday, and we actually got together in the 1986 Adelaide Festival. We’ve done so much together that we could never have done in another city; we’ve grassed North Terrace, hung dancers from the David Jones Building… I’m a huge believer in the power of the arts to change perspectives. I have always used my art to challenge, and ignite audience discussion. I have seen how the arts has changed people.
