Ray Bailey

Tyre Salesman/Truck Technician

In my line of work, servicing trucks, their suspension, fitting tyres of all types — there’s technical expertise required. I remember across my career instances where the rule book simply didn’t apply, and then one turns to experience.

When you’re driving your car down a country bitumen road, you’ll see where trucks have run off the road, the drop off. When a truck drops off the road, sometimes it comes back with great velocity, there can be an overcorrection. I remember adjusting PSI to give some feel back to the tyre based on the actual axel loads, drivers notice the difference. There’s power in small changes like that. It’s safer. There’s power in all kinds of tiny, mundane places like that.
