Paul Mazourek
Art Historian
Before I migrated to Australia, I was in a high position, working in art history and curatorial work. When I arrived here, I had to start from the beginning again, to reestablish myself in my field. There’s power in starting again and in overcoming obstacles with determination. Faced with unemployment, I had the choice to go back to where I came from, or to stay, and fight.
I think that power is an outcome, and what’s important is how it’s attained, and how it’s applied. What’s important is what people do with the power they wield; power can be a dangerous thing, but also an incredible force for good when applied in communities, or towards education.
