When I think of power I think of the political sphere, and particularly the power that exists at a local government level. I think that when power is exercised at the local level, it’s most likely to be reflective of communities and people’s interests.

I think we see more consensus at a local level, whereas at higher levels, we often see greater disengagement from decision making, and where disengagement from decision making occurs, there’s more opportunity for disenfranchisement and polarisation. At the local level, the power of politics is that it’s more participatory.
