What the Barmaid Knew: High Street, Strathalbyn

A theatrical historical tour with storytellers, actors and singers. Walk the 184-year-old town’s High Street.  The barmaid will regale you with stories: an accidental shooting death, a secret tunnel from the hotel to ‘a certain place’, the feud between High Street and ‘the lower town’, and penny farthing cycle races.

Hear drinking songs, dance hall and barbershop songs.  Start at the Kenny Blake motorbike sculpture and see the Robin Hood Hotel, the Institute / Town Hall, antiques shops, barber shop and cafes, the Motor Museum and the Commercial Hotel.

History from the 1800s to the mid 1900s. Finish with refreshments at the iconic 175-year-old St Andrews Church.
