Explore South Australia’s pioneering past at your own pace with a self guided tour of Bungaree Station. Established in 1841, this iconic property became the headquarters of one of Australia’s most successful sheep flocks, at a time when the country was said to ride “on the sheep’s back”. Today audioposts and signs bring the property’s 180 years of history to life, enabling visitors of all ages to step back in time as they explore the village-like station complex, including the woolshed, store, church, stableyard and homestead gardens. It is best to allow at least an hour for the self guided tour. Tea, coffee and other light refreshments can be purchased from the Station Store. A range of heritage accommodation is also available for overnight guests.
