Explore South Australia’s pioneering past at your own pace with a self-guided tour of historic Bungaree Station. Established in 1841, this iconic property became the headquarters of one of Australia’s most successful sheep flocks, at a time when the country was said to ride ‘on the sheep’s back’. The tour of the village-like station complex (including the woolshed, store, church, stableyard and homestead gardens) is an interactive experience for visitors, comprising of a series of audioposts, signs and displays that provide authentic insights into the property’s 180 years of history. Coffee, tea and other light refreshments can be purchased from the farm shop. Heritage-listed accommodation also available for guests who wish to spend more time exploring the property and region.
