Mochi Tsuki (sticky rice pounding) demonstration (JAFA Volunteer)

Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival

Join us for the Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival, run by the Japan Australia Friendship Association (JAFA), a non-profit volunteer organisation promoting friendship between Japan and Australia since 1995. There is something for all ages: food stalls including yakitori (chicken skewers); activities, games, and displays (such as the Japan Adelaide History Area), origami making and kimono wearing; and live performances including mochitsuki (sticky-rice pounding demonstrations). With over 7,000 visitors in 2019 and our successful AnimeGo (Jan 2021), this year will be bigger than ever and COVID safe. Come and join us as we celebrate our twenty-fifth anniversary.
