Family peering through Adelaide Gaol cell (Adelaide Gaol)

Adelaide Gaol History Day

Adelaide Gaol’s annual History Day is back with $5.00 entry and activities for the whole family. History Day will showcase a special exhibition of Adelaide Gaol Registers A & B, recently recovered by State Records of South Australia. These registers include prisoner details written by the first Governor of the gaol and date from 1848 to 1857. State Records holds the complete set of Registers from 1839 to 1955 but are missing the final registers covering 1956 to 1988. This exhibition celebrates the recovered volumes but also aims to encourage the public to help recover the last two remaining registers.
