Railways: Their Development in South Australia and Across the Country

Arguably one of the most important technological developments in Australia’s recent history has been the advent of railways. South Australia is the site of the first government-owned steam railway in the Commonwealth, and it was through railways that the rest of the state and country were ‘joined’ for transport.
