Echoes of the Past: A Documentary of Faith, Flight and German Settlement

Celebrate the History Festival with the documentary ‘Echoes of the Past’, a powerful exploration of the 1838 Prussian Lutheran settlement in South Australia. Featuring Keith Conlon and living descendants, filmed in Hahndorf. Across three unique regional screenings at Hahndorf, Loxton and Tanunda, the film uses diaries and oral histories to reveal a personal legacy of faith and struggle.

Each location offers an immersive look at Prussian heritage; each stop features site specific extras: Loxton includes a Germanic architecture talk and display, with a cuppa. In Hahndorf you have the optional extra of joining a night tour. In Tanunda, the Langmeil Church is opening the History Centre prior to the program which commences with a 30-min talk by Samuel Doering on the Princess Louise which arrived in 1849 (a completely different group of educated professionals). After the documentary viewing, enjoy afternoon tea and a tour of the cemetery.
