Welcome to our Table: An Afternoon with the Slovenian Club

Join host, food and wine writer Katie Spain as she puts a spotlight on cultural clubs and their history here in South Australia.  Slovenia is recognised as one of the most green and sustainable countries in the world and is home to pristine forests, clean water and traditional farming practices. For more than 60 years, Slovenians in SA have gathered to preserve their culture, traditional food and cultural festivals. Let’s celebrate the family that came before them. Their decision to uproot, leave their homes in faraway places and settle in Adelaide ultimately changed our society, communities – and what’s on the plate.

The afternoon, held at The Slovenian Club Adelaide, incorporates storytelling, traditional costumes, entertainment, and a casual two course showcase of traditional food (expect pork rolls, roast veg, salads, and strudel). The event also celebrates 50 years of SBS Slovenian Radio (1975 to 2025 and counting).

Let’s raise a glass to history.

All proceeds go back to the volunteer-run club and radio station.
