What the Working Classes Wore Exhibition

Costume collection of clothing of working class people, especially women. Who, until recently have been hidden from written history. Their clothing has been overlooked and under-represented in museums due to low survival rate by thrifty reuse or worn-out condition. There has also been a tendency of museums to collect and preserve elite fashions rather than utilitarian clothing.
