Event Design Workshop

Museums Australia (SA) Professional Development Series

Friday 18 October or Friday 25 October, 9 am to 1 pm

Royal Society Room (Morgan Thomas Lane, behind the State Library of South Australia, off Kintore Avenue, Adelaide)

In October 2013 Museums Australia (SA) continues their professional development series with a workshop in ‘Event Design: Influencing Audience Behaviour’, by Flinders University Head of Tourism Steve Brown. The workshop is a perfect opportunity to learn some new skills in preparation for About Time 2014.

Steve describes event design as ‘the creation, conceptual development and staging of an event using principles and techniques to capture and engage the audience with a positive and meaningful experience’. He points out the power of good design to maximise the effectiveness of communication with the audience, and deliver an optimal experience.

In this hands-on workshop Steve will provide an introduction to the principles of event design, and how this can be applied to the work we do in museums, including interpretation, exhibition and events.

Two workshops are offered, and numbers at each are limited, so please respond promptly.

Cost: Museums Australia (SA) members free, other attendees $50.

(Institutional Members of Museums Australia may send two representatives free of charge)
