Follow in the footsteps of artist Arnold Jarvis (1882-1959) who was born in Burnside and studied art under James Ashton at the same time as Sir Hans Heysen. You will be intrigued by his other life as a juggler! Ally Preiss, Arnold’s great niece, will lead us through many locations in Burnside where he stopped and painted scenes during the period 1895-1910. Your footsteps will take you through beautiful Hazelwood Park, past Arnold’s home in Knightsbridge, his school and then onto the site of the original Burnside Village in High St. The walk will conclude with an exhibition of Jarvis’s paintings and photographic images of historic Burnside. A three hour walk with moderately steep uphill grades and uneven paths. Good level of walking fitness recommended. Suitable for capable walkers.
