The Great 1919 Air Race: From Passion to Print

Hear a dramatic story told in person by Lainie Anderson, columnist and author of the celebrated historical novel Long Flight Home, published in 2019 to celebrate the centenary of the achievements of pioneering aviators Keith and Ross Smith and their crew Jim Bennet and Wally Shiers. Presented as part of our High Octane History Program, this illustrated talk will redirect your attention from air travel Covid 19 style to the realities of distance, weather, fragile technology and relationships under pressure in a world transformed by World War I. Bookings required by phone or email.
