The Gov over the decades: From corner pub to Adelaide’s home of live music
In 2023 the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel celebrates two big birthdays: 175 years since the hotel was established; and 30 years since it transformed into the award-winning live music venue lovingly known as ‘The Gov’.
The building on the corner of Gibson Street and Port Road in Hindmarsh has stood proud over the decades as a welcoming public house for all and its history is full of tales of unforgettable performances, raucous behaviour, falling in love and much more.
This exhibition digs back through the decades to uncover the long story of The Gov.
