Stories My Mother Told Me: A Recollection of the History of Victor Harbor

Join us as Anthony Laube recalls wonderful stories on the history of the Victor Harbor district. Anthony Laube’s mother spent her entire life in the area. Born in the private hospital in 1929, her parents and grandparents had lived in the town from 1880. She was a great storyteller, growing up at a time when many original settlers were still alive and ‘everyone knew everyone’. Anthony has published several books about the district since 1982 – particularly Under Peeralilla which was developed with a grant from the local branch of the National Trust. Also a member of the National Trust, Anthony was involved in the opening of the museum in the Old Customs house, and is a librarian at the State Library of South Australia. The local National Trust will have a display in the Library during May.
