South Australian Aviation Museum History Talks: Wing Commander John Downing

Wing Commander John Downing (Retd) recalls flying Canberra bombers in Vietnam. John was the commanding officer of No. 2 Squadron in 1970-71. His aircraft remains the only RAAF aircraft to be shot down by a surface to air missile, from which he ejected safely. John was awarded an American Distinguished Flying Cross.

The talk commences with a presentation in the museum meeting room before moving to the hangar for a hands-on question and answer session in front of the museum Canberra.
