Rodney Fox Shark Museum & Learning Centre

Get up close and personal with a Carcharodon carcharias… the Great White Shark!

The museum tells the story of Rodney Fox, South Australian Spear Fishing Champion in 1962 – and shark attack survivor. Rodney survived the attack in 1963 – undergoing and excruciating 462 stitches in his chest, right hand and arm – to launch a career in shark research, culminating in the development of the first shark cage. Rodney also played a pivotal role in the filming of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jaws’ (1975). The museum collection is continuously updated with items providing insights into current shark ecology research methods and shark deterrents.
