Dublin Protest Statue of a cockroach, Dublin History Group Collection.

Have you ever wondered why some decisions were ever made? It is amazing that ‘People Power’ can make changes. The Dublin History Group will explore protests in the area dating back to 1876.

With guest speakers and displays, we will tell the stories that made headlines. Our main focus will be on the fight to save Port Parham from being included in the extension of restricted land by the Australian Defence Force and the more recent opposition to the proposed Dublin landfill dump which resulted in the very visible and distinctive protest statues, including the giant cockroach along Port Wakefield Road.
