Bland Valve and Transistor Radios and Speakers (Keith Ellison)

Pop-Up Exhibition of Bland Radio School PA System and Valve Radios

A pop-up exhibition of Bland Radio equipment including valve radios, a 1961 school PA system originally commissioned for Blackwood Primary School, and a range of school PA speakers and associated equipment, all of which were designed and manufactured in the Adelaide CBD during the 1940s and 1950s. Bland Radio was established by William Joseph Bland in the 1920s and resided in King William and Grenfell Streets before establishing a three-storey factory on the corner of Pirie Street and Coromandel Place in 1938. Bland Radio was the longest-running radio manufacturer in SA making radio receivers for more than 50 years.
