Mangrove Cove & Lartelare Reserve (Kym Murphy and Taylor-Cullity-Lethlean)

New Port Narratives

While New Port is relatively new (2007), its landscape continues to evoke memories of much earlier times. Lartelare Park reminds us of the abundance of food and resources enjoyed here by the Kaurna people. Fletcher’s Slip and the Tidal Recorder Hut are portholes into the river’s maritime history. Mangrove Cove played an important role in the emergence of the local environmental movement when the mangroves were at risk. Join Estuary Care Foundation volunteers in exploring these places and stories, followed by coffee and cake at Portobello Restaurant. If it’s wet or wild then the whole event will move to Portobello. Bookings essential.
