High Octane History: Travelling Transformations With Steam and Rail will provide an interactive presentation illustrated by images and stories which highlight the different elements of train travel through the Adelaide Hills
Services ranged through commuting to work in Adelaide, visiting friends and family in the country, official visits by dignitaries, the excitements of travelling on the Overland to Melbourne as the unrelenting goods trains began to pass through the hills at night. Stories of travellers lives will sit within the complex infrastructure of rail tracks, tunnels, stations, steam engines, diesels and those Red Hens which gradually disappeared as motor vehicles and the Freeway took over.
Share your stories and photos and enjoy wine and nibbles with other railway buffs.
