Detail of embroidery (St George's Church, Goodwood)

Embroidery and Vestment Display

A display of embroidery and vestments from the collection of St George’s Anglican Church, Goodwood. Many of the vestments are made in the arts and crafts style of the early twentieth century by local parishioners. These comprise part of a fine range of vestments, most of which also date from the twentieth century. This collection is often considered the best in South Australia. The church has a historic interior in a simple Gothic style with some beautiful carvings by Nathaniel Hitch, a noted carver of the early twentieth century, who worked on many cathedrals and churches over a long career.
