Colonel Light Gardens: 100 Years of History

Celebrate Colonel Light Gardens 100th year by visiting the Mitcham Local History Service to learn more about the history of this uniquely designed State heritage-listed model garden suburb. View a historical photographic exhibition and other paraphernalia. You can also research and talk to the centre’s knowledgeable volunteers about all things Colonel Light Gardens. Learn about the suburbs planner Charles Reade, its history as a WWI army camp, and the suburbs mass housing project, the Thousand Homes Scheme.
