March along King William Street, 1971. (Leo Davis)

Anti-war and Anti-apartheid Demonstrations: Photos Across 1970-71

From May 1970 to late 1971, Leo Davis attended several anti-war and anti-apartheid demonstrations in Adelaide’s streets. Just a family snapper, his camera was always with him. Black and white negatives were developed but no prints made until 2020. You may be interested to look for faces in the crowds (all now old or deceased), to ponder the role and effectiveness of mass demonstrations in bringing about change or simply to note how Adelaide has changed.

Presented by Leo Davis

Exhibition open: 12, 15, 19 & 22 May, 2-5pm. (Opening event BOOKED OUT Sun 9 May, 6pm).
