John Horrocks Cottage Penwortham (Meredith McInnis)

A Twilight Walk Among Penwortham's Gravestones

Come and experience a guided tour of St Mark’s Cemetery in Penwortham at dusk. Hear stories of the inhabitants, including pioneer and explorer John Ainsworth Horrocks, who was one of the first burials in 1846 at only 28 years of age. Be prepared for some surprises! The evening will end with wine and cheese served at the John Horrocks Cottage, where you will hear more tales of the people of Penwortham’s past and you can get involved in a lively discussion on the different roles the village could have played if Horrocks had survived. Bookings essential.
