Millicent Sarre

Performing Artist

I found my voice, point of view and sense of purpose when I started creating cabaret work that centred social justice issues, particularly relating to feminism and the rights of women. I feel that my sense of power comes from advocating for what is right and just, and doing that in a way that harnesses my creativity and artistic passions.

My high school drama teacher, Julianne English, opened my eyes to my own potential, believed in me before I did and was firm from the outset that pursuing a career in the arts was completely viable and reasonable and possible. She was the first person to tell me that.
